At Health and Safety for Beginners (HSfB) we are committed to protecting the privacy of our customers and website visitors. Our relationship with you is valuable and we understand the importance you place on the privacy and security of information which personally identifies you. In that respect, and whether you are a first time visitor to our website or a regular user, we take your privacy seriously. Please read the following in order to learn more about our Privacy Policy and our information gathering and dissemination practices.

Introduction
HSfB respects each individual's right to personal privacy.  We will collect and use information through our web sites only in the ways disclosed in this statement.  This statement applies solely to information collected at HSfB's web sites.

Part I.  Information Collection
HSfB collects information through our web sites when you register your membership to participate in our interactive areas, including discussion forums, article comments, social media sharing tools, newsletter and Business Directory.

We collect the following information from discussion forum community members: username; e-mail address; password (encrypted and not readable by HSfB); confirmation of password; and the Internet Protocol (IP) address of all discussion forum posts are recorded to aid in enforcing action against users who break the Terms and Conditions of use for the HSfB discussion forums.

We collect the following mandatory information from members registering to participate in basic interactive areas and our Business Directory: username; e-mail address; password (encrypted); and, Internet Protocol (IP) address. The following non-mandatory information may be collected if entered voluntarily by you: language; city; region; postal/zip code; country; website; favourite book; 'about me' information; and, date of birth.

We collect the following information from business owners entering their business details within the HSfB Business Directory: e-mail address; full name; commercial name; commercial address; and, commercial telephone number. Any additional information will be given voluntarily by you.

HSfB does not actively market to children.

During our Prize Draw competitions and other competitions organised by HSfB, we may collect personally identifiable information in order to provide you with notification of prizes and to enable registration for certain prizes where appropriate, details of which will be disclosed at the time of competitions and/or at the time of notification of a win and the steps to follow regarding any win claim. This information will be given voluntarily by you and may include: Your name; email address; telephone number; home address.

By entering any prize draw on HSfB, winners consent to the results and winner's name being published on HSfB's websites and any media coverage created by the draw during marketing activities. By entering any prize draw on HSfB, winners also consent to the results and winner's name being published in any media coverage created by prize draw contributing organisations during their marketing activities.

We will collect address details (personal or commercial), as appropriate, to allow delivery of any online shop items, purchased advertising campaigns, and/or purchased Business Directory packages through our secure PayPal merchant services (PayPal terms and conditions will apply when using their services).  Address details will not be given or sold to any third parties.  PayPal will manage all transactions and we will never have access to your credit card details or bank details.

Health and Safety for Beginners is registered with the Information Commissioner, notification reference number - dac940.

We do employ cookies. A cookie is a small text file that our web server places on a user's computer hard drive to be a unique identifier. Cookies enable HSfB to deliver customized content to users via our community forums and Google Adsense advertising campaigns (Google Adsense terms and conditions will apply). Cookies generated from your use of HSfB's sites may collect non-personally identifiable information in the form of an IP address, but not your name, address, email address or telephone number.

We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our website, including Google. Google uses the DoubleClick DART cookies which enables Google to serve ads to you about goods and services of interest to you based on your visit to HSfB sites and other sites on the Internet. If you would like more information on this practice or if you would like to opt out of the use of the DART cookie, you can do so by contacting Google directly.

The discussion forums system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any of the information you have entered at the time of registering with the community forums; they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure. The e-mail address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one), or for sending you vital information regarding your account or any important information regarding accounts or web site changes affecting members.

We collect this information through the community registration forms and automatic logging on files.  The information is collected voluntarily when you select the ‘automatically log on' option to do so.

We do employ cookies as part of affiliate advertising partnerships. These cookies may collect non-personally identifiable information in the form of your IP address for the purpose of tracking sales of third party products and services advertised on HSfB. Terms and conditions may also apply by third party affiliate advertising partnerships that HSfB has no control over.  

Part II.  Information Usage.
The information collected by HSfB will be used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one), or for sending you vital information regarding your account or any important information regarding member sections of our websites, including the HSfB Business Directory and discussion forums, Privacy Policy changes, or Terms and Conditions changes.  Discussion forum functionality features may use your email address for notification purposes if requested via user control panels. Users who provide information will receive confirmation of registration emails and vital important information regarding accounts or web site changes affecting members. 

Registered users of the discussion forums will receive additional announcements from us about products, services, special deals, and various other offers.

The HSfB newsletter software collects your email address to which you voluntarily provide using a 'double opt-in' feature in order to receive our newsletter.   You have the option to remove yourself from this software at any time, which will stop any future correspondence between HSfB and the email address you supply upon subscription.

Registered users of the HSfB newsletter may receive additional announcements about products, services, special deals and various other offers.   Out of respect for the privacy of our users we present the option to not receive these types of communications and the option to receive or cancel future newsletters. 

We will never give, sell or otherwise trade your personally identifiable information to any third parties, unless prize draw contributing organisations require these details as a direct result of you winning a prize requiring you to provide contact details or registration details in order to redeem prizes.

We may disclose your personally identifiable information if we are obliged to under law, to enforce our terms and conditions of use or for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

We offer links to other web sites.  Please note: when you click on links to other web sites, we encourage you to read their privacy policies.  Their standards may differ from ours.

Our web sites offer discussion forums.  Please be advised that information posted in these venues becomes public knowledge. 

If our policy on information collection or uses changes, we expect most such changes to be minor, but there may be changes that are more significant. Regardless, we will post those changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will also provide a more prominent notice.  Each version will be noted at the top of the page.   We will also advise you by site news alerts on the main homepage and in the discussion forums announcement section.

Part III.  Access to Information
HSfB maintains the accuracy of our information by the discussion forums registration confirmation procedure.  Users may access their own personal information and contact us about inaccuracies they may find.  Please contact us using the form within the contact page on this web site in the first instance.  Alternatively, contact us on our Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or LinkedIn company pages.

HSfB protects user information with the following security measures: up-to-date website software versions; up-to-date discussion forum versions; every donated download item published is scanned for virii by up-to-date anti-virus software and web host standard security.
