IOSH Graduate name change to Certified (CertIOSH)

I received the new IOSH Certified Member certificate yesterday, and have to say that I feel I've been demoted. Graduate indicates that a professional qualification such as a Level 6 Diploma or Degree is held. Certified sounds like I now hold a low level certificate such as the NEBOSH National General certificate.
Anyone else feel this is a slap across the face by IOSH?

I think many people will be thinking the same as yourself Stretch.

Not all potential employers, when advertising, actually know what these abbreviations mean anyway and may well think it is a lower grade!

Do other members have thoughts please?

There is also the flip side to your argument that Grad means graduated, and you are a freshly qualified student?

I agree that many companies have no idea what the old abbreviations mean so will have even less idea in the new system.
I've seen many a job advert contradicting itself on qualification requirements and IOSH grades.
My last 3 H&S Management jobs I got all asked for CMIOSH and Degree H&S level which I don't have!

I'm only Tech IOSH but will probably go through the Experiential route to a higher grade, not that I'm particularly bother by the grade from a work perspective.

From outside looking in, Id argue that gradiosh referred to qualification and CMIOSH reflected the qualification and experience. IOSH is bringing membership grades and structure in line with other chartered bodies.

They are changing, but in line to other membership bodies, I disagree.

No other body will ask you to do compulsory online training for ethical practise. I am a member of other bodies (CMI, IIRSM IoL) and none of them are as tedious as IOSH.

My own personal view is that even with the changes IOSH is still an organisation that is outdated and doesnt give value for money. I have not renewed my IOSH Membership this year, as it gives me no value. I am in a fairly senior role and although asked about IOSH membership at job filter and interview stage it has never caused me an issue when I state, I prefer other more professional organizations which offer value for money such as those mentioned above).

Each to their own, I am not getting at those who are members but there is a lot of push-back, I know of several CMIOSH & GradIOSH level practicioners who feel the same way as me, on LinkedIn there are many conversations regarding this topic. Some people are just dont like change but there are many of us not renewing as discussed above.

I feel I have been demoted by IOSH. when talking qualifications it is normally Certificate then Graduate. I fully agree with Willpool, IOSH does not seem to be great value for money as you need to do the compulsory hours on your CPD. I have enough plates to spin trying to keep my people safe as well as the company protected, without needing to do interviews, compulsory online training etc.

I ama Fellow Member of IIRSM and in my opinion a lot more user friendly than IOSH, I am also a Fellow Member if the Institute of Leadership (which is great but not directly related to H&S)

There is also CSP but that is more in line with US and international safety.

Not sure what else is out there as I am happy with IIRSM and IoL

TBH I'm only a member because my company requires and pays for it, were it my own money I'd have ditched it some time ago.

Also short of CMIOSH, it is of no use for CSCS cards, which is a must in the part the of construcion industry I work in, only being a Tech, it doesn't qualify me for any of the CSCS cards available to me since the old Health & Safety Officer (Industry Accreditation) card is being dropped.

However as a MIIRSM with the Nebosh Construction Cert I do qualify for the PQP (Professionally Qualified Person) card "Specialist Member of International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (MIIRSM)".

So from a practical point of view IOSH is not doing itself any favours in the construction industry, and from conversations with CITB, there seems to be a rather despairing view of IOSH's stance / lack of support towards safety professionals in the construction industry, which pretty much mirrors my own experiences with IIRSM being much more helpful and supportive.
