We have an overcast morning so far with some summer rain. Still wearing woolly jumpers.
I know nothing about safe ways of driving a MEWP on to a flat-bed lorry, but I am sure the man I watched this morning certainly didn't treasure his life!
He was alone and obviously had done the task many many times and developed his own procedures a few listed as follows:
1 Upon entering the basket and not securing himself within, he drove the Genie similar to the one in the video in the link (others are available) onto the flat-bed lorry no problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBNegxiorZ0
2 Still in the basket and still not secured, he lowered the long boom and began tilting the basket to fit the length of the loader.
3 He continued to tilt the basket with himself inside working the controls until the basket was at a 360 degree angle. In other words, until he was lying on his back in the slippery rain, raising his left leg to the acceleration pedal, hanging on to save himself falling out and moving the MEWP forward a bit more onto the lorry.

4 He slid out the basket, went to the lorry controls and lifted the tail gate, but...........not content that he was still alive and un-injured, God only knows how, he crawled back into the basket again and proceeded to (using his now mastered leg in the air acceleration) reverse the MEWP back towards the upright closed tail gate!! Sheesh!
