Anyone have experience with wearing eye protection that then interferes with wearing ear protection? The arms of the goggles prevent the ear defenders being flush against the side of your head. Sound is still reduced, but not as much as if you didnt have the glasses on. No ones ever mentioned this to me before and i've only just come across it now as im having to wear both myself.
On a side note - my employer has done a review of its employees and decided it is essential that I carry out 6 hours of online training to gain my IOSH working safely certificate. My health and Safety certificates, zipped up, create a 1gb file. - Oh well, passess the quiet time at work
It isn't something that I have come across particularly. You could try ear defenders that attach to a hard hat. I suspect they would give more room for you to get goggles on around your ears.
No need for us to waer a hard hat for what we are doing, using a bench grinder.
I thought about in ear protection but id rather not have anything stuck in my ears.
Looks like the best option is a different set of glasses. The current ones have arms that curve outwards around the head, where as ones that are straight back like normal glasses, they are fine. They just dont look as cool.
Actually, there was a dodgy question on PPE. They said that employees should not use their own PPE, which is cobblers as lots of people have their own PPE, especially when it comes to issues of correct fit.
The issue with the ear defenders isnt the head band, its the sealing rings that wont conform around the shape of the arms on the glasses, they curve out oround my head too much. With normal eye glasses, or with safety glasses with flat arms they work perfectly fine.
