CONSTRUCTION - TEMPORARY ACCOMODATION

Post by Matz3rath »

Hi Ladies and Gents

We have a construction site at a remote location quite far from hotels and any town. Due to the nature of project we have to provide temporary accommodation for our workers. The building is pretty big so we could easily designate one floor, separate it from working area to arrange rooms and welfare facilities however I'm not sure if its legal? If yes are there any legal requirements?

The best people to ask would be the local planning office, as they are the experts in this field.

Off the top of my head you would need to consider:

- Fire Alarms
- Fire Escapes
- Emergency lighting
- Fire compartmentalisation (fire doors, escape routes etc)
- Toilet and sanitation facilities
- Cooking facilities

In effect you have turned the building into an HMO, so there would be lots to consider. Again my first point of call would be to the local council office to ask for their advice.

Regards
