NEBOSH General Certificate

Post by Ader1 » Sun Sep 22, 2019 10:46 am

Hello all. It's my first time on here.

I'm being sent by my work to do the Nebosh General Certificate course next week from 30th September to the 4th or October. I've received some information from my employers but it doesn't state that there will be an exam on the 4th. I assume there will be. I've over the past few days I've been doing some background reading using the Hughes and Ferret Health and Safety at Work book. Some of it has sunk in as I've been taking some notes. But I don't seem to be able to answer exam questions very well using the couple of past exam papers I've managed to get hold of. I guess the course will be more geared towards passing the exam? Anyway, am I doing things the correct way? I haven't been told to do any course pre-reading but I'm glad I've done some. There's a lot more to this exam than I thought there would be. Any suggestion on what I should concentrate on from now until the beginning of the course if anything at all? I'll be working each day next week but will be able to study at least a couple of hours every night. Thank you. (Excellent site)

Hi Ader1

Welcome to the forums :)

There is a post here, although A little out of date is still mostly relevant:

https://www.healthandsafetytips.co.uk/f ... f=2&t=6133

There are also training aids etc in our downloads section:

https://www.healthandsafetytips.co.uk/d ... h-specific

I did my NEBOSH (in 2 weeks, if I remember rightly but this was more than a dozen years ago) and did no prior learning ../.

The course was hard, but it is supposed to be challenging.

Good luck with your course and anything else you have queries about, please post on the forums and you can usually have a reply within a day or so

Hi
Welcome. I will assume that the course will be to the new format that was recently announced.

See this page here: https://www.nebosh.org.uk/qualification ... rtificate/

1 week cannot be correct for the course.
To quote the NEBOSH website,
The National General Certificate involves a minimum of 68 taught hours and approximately 40 hours of private study and background reading.
I'm guessing there will be a 2nd week in a few weeks time....

It looks like there may not be an exam at the end of next week but after the second week.
