Air monitoring frequency

Post by stretch3144 »

Sounds like a simple question, but even google is not very helpful.
I'm trying to determine the frequency for air monitoring.
I am in a new role in manufacturing involving MIG welding and have recently had a statutory inspection visit from Allianz and one of the comments is regarding COSHH assessment for the welding processes - currently don't have a COSHH assessment for MIG welding wire but have emailed the supplier for SDS. RA is in place but doesn't cover COSHH.
Allianz have informed me that we need to carry out air sampling however I do not know how often.
Company records show it has been carried out at two yearly intervals and I have records for 2015 & 2017 - meaning it must be due about now. However should it be carried out more frequently?

Thanks.

Ignore my query - just found the information in Regulation 10 of the COSHH regs. Recommendation is every 12 months.

I have just been reading about COSHH in my NCRQ HSD 3, Chapter 2 (Hazardous substances II) , and I am sure it said somewhere annual or as advised by your insurance company- therefore I would maybe contact them to check what they are requesting. Unless I dreamt it- which is possible after doing late night reading  .

Yours,

Nell
