Handwritten Observation sheets?

Post by Vikingr »

Hi,

Really sorry if this has been covered recently. I did a search of the forums.

Is it absolutely essential that the practical observation sheets are handwritten? I did my NGC a few years ago and this was not the case?

Many thanks.

Not at all. Most are done on a word document these days.

Im utterly confused then. My tutor used the word "must" and all nebosh people know that means you have to!

Id rather type it up, its what i would do inspecting a site anyway?

Some Providers/Tutors speak a load of rubbish!

Take a look at the Guidance to Students: http://www.nebosh.org.uk/fileupload/upl ... 621128.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Its called UNIT NCC2: CONSTRUCTION - HEALTH AND SAFETY PRACTICAL APPLICATION
My use of BOLD below:
The submission must include:

completed observation sheets covering a number and range of hazards and good
practice, identifying suitable control measures and timescales;

an introduction and executive summary;

main findings of the completed inspection;

conclusions which summarise the main issues identified in the candidate’s
workplace;

completed recommendations table.
And...
The practical application may be submitted in the candidate’s own handwriting or be word processed.
Therefore, the sheets, or indeed the whole submission, can be in handwriting or typed up!

See page 2 of the link!

Thanks Berni,

I've spoken to my provider and without them giving the game away, i think they have had issues regarding plagiarism hence why the encouragement to make them a real time handwritten copy on the site inspection.

My personal take is that my handwritting is less than desirable and the typed up version would look much more professional. Oh well, i'll just play the game!

Thanks

Could be.
Let's not forget that for the various Certificates, they are marked locally, either in-house or by someone brought in as a 'marker' to work on behalf of the provider. Only a QA sample of Certificate practicals are actually called forward by NEBOSH. .salut

Rob
Are they saying you can't plagiarise if you write it? What nonsense I'm afraid.
Typing is easier to mark as well as marks can be deducted if the marker can't read your writing!

Paul,

Basically yes, i did them in my handwriting and its probably more obvious i took ages by writing it all in block capitals because i was fearful the marker wouldn't have understood my normal handwriting :(
