Isn't it interesting to hear how plants do in different areas of the country. My clematis are only just starting to bud and my arthritic tulips are only about a foot tall. Daffys are only just starting to bloom, although very slowly and I believe further down the UK they are all passing over.

You're right about the hard work Sleepy. I can't touch bulbs. Severe allergy, but today forgot and planted half a dozen Gladiolas........you should see me now! Choking to death, chesty cough and look like a ghost.

My tulips have been and gone. I forgot where I had planted them and before we knew it, they had flowered and gone. Last year they were in bloom ages.

Hope you feel better soon Alexis, it will be worth it when the flowers come out.

 I'm wondering if it was a Harlequin Ladybird Alexis, .scratch

From the page:

When hungry, harlequin ladybirds will bite humans in their search for something edible. Ladybirds in houses, woken from dormancy by central heating, may bite people as there is no food available. The bites usually produce a small bump and sting slightly. There are a few documented cases of people having a severe allergic reaction to harlequin ladybirds. .pale

Thank you Oracle. I don't know what species it was, but it was a big one, so presume it must have been the Harlequin. .shaking .colours .pale

I am, for the moment, still alive and wellish. .shaking

My Daffs are starting to die out, but looked lovely all the same, tulips are still hanging in there amongst others which I do not know the names of . Do the heads just fall off or do I need to trim them. Do the green leaves stay??

Also no one seems to be watering as yet, is it still early to conduct daily sprinkle??? Have planted a view bulbs/seeds and water them a couple of times each week. Not sure what to do as no one seems to be doing it as yet. Should this really be done in May/June or when it gets really hot???
