why not make it something all hs managers, inspectors and officers need. a friend at work.

jack you should make hsfb mugs available with peoples avatars and names on them or poss company names and logo on them and other stuff too with the hsfb logo on

as for a prize why dont you try talking some big shots into donating a pda or smartphone with a health an safety managment software on it, or just software or discount on buying software same applies to the idea of books or magazine subscription, i dont know how good at talking you are jack but you could try twisting the arm of a good hotel chain for a wkend stay or a nice meal for the winner, or a superspecial deluxe christmas hamper (acko could help out with some of his harvest from his lotty) , a good digital camera for photoing people breaking the rules at work, a sat nav for finding your way to work, ipod so you can listen to music while attending your umpteenth site induction this month where they play that video. a wine and champagne selection.

who actually pays for it , the prize

All nice thoughts there Scaffy, but................costly!! The types of mugs etc you speak of are costly and just couldn't be given away unfortunately. The Hotel break etc is not H&S related, therefore wouldn't be given by companies for free and much too costly for Jack's purse strings.

Some fantastic ideas folks, keep 'em coming :D

The mugs can be done, but I would need to have them made to order and they would be a wee bit dearer than they are already in our shop.

PDA and camera sound a useful and practical prize :D

In fact, an accident/incident investigation kit would be a practical prize.

I'll keep this topic for future reference :D

More suggestions please :D

For me an opportunity to increase my qualifications would be fantastic, so top of my list would be the NVQ4 route.

Any of the other prizes would also be very nice, in particular the books and anything to do with chocolate – Oops now you know one of my weaknesses .colours

I like all of the other previous stated ideas for prizes and what about memory sticks (or has somebody already thought of this one) – useful for transferring documents around!

Now where did I put that choccie bar!! .scratch

I would love to win a place on the fire cert, preferably personal tuition from Hunky Fireman ;)

Or even a HSfB diary?

Or just chocolate - running theme here :D

I wouldn't mind winning the NEBOSH env dip or a noise assessment course? Or what about a nice big tin of those lovely choccie biscuits you only seem to get around xmas time?

Have fun

What about HsfB Advent Calenders with little choccies inside (for the HsfB Shop) for all the choc-a-holics on site.

Cant see the addiction myself

Hi Jack. (sorry, don't read this out loud if your on a plane somewhere!!)

Bit late into this post. What about short courses, noise assessment, HAVS etc. funded maybe by the equipment suppliers. Would the HSL give you any sort of discount for their courses at Buxton, good but a bit pricey.

OR

What about a day spent with the H&S Manager at Cadbury World, or for the anti choc's at Bowmore or Lagavulin??
In fact, forget the courses and concentrate on the consumables.

Have a good weekend all.
