New Version of Forums
You may or may not be aware that these discussion forums are based on the phpBB2 format. There have been many security updates to the forums over the years, but there has now been a complete revamp and phpBB3 Gold has now been released.
What does this mean for HSfB forums?
This means that I will be converting the forums to phpBB3 very soon and there will be some dramatic changes to the look, feel and functionality of the forums as we know it. Which is fantastic!
On a slight down side, all forum modifications will be lost in the conversion, which means that the snow will vanish this year , some smilies may be lost, there will be only one forum style to choose from in your profile (for the moment).
On the plus side, there are many many more modifications as standard on the new phpBB3 forums. Here is a list of features -
http://www.phpbb.com/about/features/
Here is a look at how the forums will look after the conversion -
http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/index.php
When I do the conversion, the forums will be closed for the duration. This is essential to allow a smooth conversion so that no posts, members, and other information is lost during the process.
phpBB3 is a welcome change here at HSfB and I'm sure it won't be long before we are all used to the new format.
Post any questions or comments you may have in the following post - viewtopic.php?t=14721

All done, I hope you like it
I will create some video guides when I get a chance, but feel free to ask any questions in the meantime and have a play with your new forums

Re: New Version of Forums
I've just discovered that the language packs are fairly easy to install, so I've started with the French (Standard) pack
You can now change the language of the board through your user control panel.
There are another 60 to install, so I may be some time before they are all done

Re: New Version of Forums
I've updated the attachments settings so you can now upload a variety of documents, powerpoints, spreadsheet files etc to your posts to allow ease of sharing
Please bear in mind I have restricted the size to 2MB per attachment with a 100MB server limit, so when the server reaches its limit, I'll delete all attachments to start again.
