Impact of concrete on wildlife and vegetation query

Post by Ewangoil »

Hi all,

Are there any experts here who can explain to me the risks associated with using/mixing/pouring concrete, specifically in relation to the impact it would have on wildlife and plant life.
The location in question is a national nature reserve, Category ii protected area and site of special scientific interest.

Hopefully someone knows a bit more than me on the subject.
Any help/advice appreciated.

Thanks

Ewan

I found this which might be of use?

Also on wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environme ... f_concrete which you can sometimes take with a pinch of salt but might be some useful links to check over at the end of the article.

Thanks Grim72, That's exactly the info i was after.
Thankfully I have already recommended measures to combat accidental release. Mixing on site will take place in a bunded and lined area or will be mixed off site. wash off will collected be pumped into an ibc and removed from site and pouring will be minimised by using pre cast materials.

On a similar note, if anyone’s looking for eco-friendly gear, like sustainable ponchos, check this out: Eco-Friendly Ponchos. Every little bit helps when it comes to protecting nature. :)

Cheers! .cheers
