Update: taken a new job hopefully confidence and positivity will return with new challenge - scary though leaving current place after 16 years (6 years H&S !)

Oh confined space..... I deal with them on boreholes.
Permits to enter, top man, gas detectors and tripods.
Rescue plan and drills.
Its a lot simpler than you think. Just made sure they have the right training certs for the depth.

I'm in utilities and work with confined spaces.
What sort of confined spaces are you looking at? can you move around in the dark if the power goes out? are you walking/crawling in or are you having to climb in on ladders? how fast can you get out in an emergency?
What are the hazards that could change the environment? ie gasses, liquids,
