Post by TWDB »

Guys,

does anyone know a company etc that can advise and have possible site visit to a few of our projects to help us review and develop our procedures in terms of our working environment for confined space - seems to keep causing confusion and needs an independent voice to confirm and define based on our working situation

renewables sector

would like to set up a call to discuss with an expert

thanks

Just going to say: Make sure your 'expert' doesn't stand to then charge you for a confined space RA, as you may suddenly find that every environment you look at is one!
We often think that when we have completed our study of one we know all about two, because 'two' is 'one and one.' We forget that we still have to make a study of 'and.'

What sort of confined spaces are you going in to ?
Is the confusion over what is and isnt a confined space? or is it over the catagorisation (NC1, NC2 etc) of the space?

Use this document https://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/books/l101.htm there is a simple flow chart that will help you decide the challenges of confined spaces. On a project i worked on recently, the flowchart was used and it was decided that many of the spaces where not confined at all, they ended up being restricted spaces.
