RORO Risk Assessment

Post by pip7755 »

Hi,

New to the site.

Would anyone be able to provide a risk assessment for a Roll on Roll Off Skip Vehicle that I could have a look at to give me a starter for 6 in creating one for my company.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi pip. Another warm welcome to HSfB from me too.

As Will mentions, hopefully someone can offer something in due course.

PM me, I can provide you one but you will have to adapt. Make sure you have the operational procedures in place, vehicle operating instructions, training etc.

The vehicle is one aspect of the operation but the bins themselves are the most common cause of incidents.

RoRo drivers commonly ram the hook into the containiner so if you have your own containers make sure you have a regular condition inspection routine and repair schedule as they damage the panel above or below the bar where is hooks on. I have seen incidents where the driver thinks he hooked bar and it has hooked the inside of the panel and resulted in the container tipping sideways taking the truck with it.

The driver should be checking that the weight is not uneven with heavy loads as again it tips sideways with the truck.
