"The men drowned after a platform they were working on plunged into the River Shannon at 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon.
The men were working in a cage-like structure during the repair works on the bridge, one of the oldest in the city, when a cable attached to the cage gave way, plunging the three men into the river. All three were wearing life jackets but were also in harnesses, which were attached to the cage when it fell into the water."

Very sad, heart felt thoughts go out to the families of the two men. Hoping the third man has a speedy recovery. This is the reason why we never permitted the wearing of harnesses when working over water. We did investigate the possibility of getting a quick release lanyard but found it was safer to not have them strapped in to a working platform whenever it was over the water.

How awful for the families having to wait 6 years to reach this point.

Immeasurable mental stress to all three of these families.

Let's hope this judge is more speedy with his conclusion's than the two companies involved. :(
