Fire and Welfare - Space between desk and office wall

Post by TWDB »

hopefully a quickie

Guys, does there need to be a gap between a desk and a wall if there is a 1m space/ route in the other direction to exit a workstation (desk)

we are moving offices abut using existing desks (don't ask) and to maximize walkways the director sto push the desk up against the wall on one end the other three sides of the square of 4 desks, has at least a 1 metre space around it - before a partition or the next set of 4..

let me know your thoughts

Thanks

T
Update: taken a new job :D hopefully confidence and positivity will return with new challenge - scary though leaving current place after 16 years (6 years H&S !) :shock:

Hi T,

Can you draw it and upload a picture? I can't for the life of me figure out the layout and I've read it 5 times, think it's just me though.

They way I read that is you have 4 desks forming a square, 1 desk is poushed up against the wall, making only 3 sides of the square usable.
I dont see that as an issue if that desk isnt in use. Its just a waste of a desk.

TWDB - Nice to see you back.

I sent you a PM after your enquiry in May about a mental health workshop, it's still waiting for you to pick it up.
