Hi all,
I'm trying to find more info on a product that I think was mentioned here within the last 18 months.
It's a standalone tube of extinguishing substance that is affixed within electrical supply cabinets and similar set-up. When exposed to heat, the tube ruptures and spills the chemical, extinguishing the fire.
So, can anyone remember where this was mentioned and what the product was?
And, does anyone have any opinions on the effectiveness of this type of product?
Cheers!

Fire suppression query
We often think that when we have completed our study of one we know all about two, because 'two' is 'one and one.' We forget that we still have to make a study of 'and.'

Re: Fire suppression query
It's made by Envirograf, and called the Enviroburst.

Video available on their website where even the most cynical of electricians can see if it works or not, unless they are conspiracy nuts with whom there is no sensible discussion....
They do a small version for fitting in Mobility Scooter battery boxes too...

And another
https://rotarexfiretec.com/categories/e ... protection
In fact there's quite a few of them on the market now. I am not sure whether there is a British or European standard from them yet, so we won't be ordering any until we have that reassurance.
I have already had my fingers burnt - so to speak - by procuring clever innovation to find it underperforms (video smoke detection and in some ways, hypoxic fire systems as two examples)

Messy
that one you've discovered seems to be a far more substantial system. I can understand your reluctance to commit to something like that without further evidence.

Yeah, I'm thinking of an ad hoc usage for places that are already high risk due to factors that are out of our control...
Thanks guys, I'll let you know if this leads to any additional data (positive or negative).
