NVQ Level 5 - Unit 402
Good afternoon,
I have made a start on the NVQ 5 recently and I believe I am writing absolute nonsense for unit 402's learning outcomes.
I think I am going about setting my answers out wrong.
How did everyone else who went down the NVQ route find starting? I'm looking for a few pointers to get me going so I can make some sense of the notes I have scribbled down for the learning outcomes.
Any advice would be great.
Cheers
Stevie

Re: NVQ Level 5 - Unit 402
Good Morning Stevie and a warm welcome to HSfB.
The Storyboard, reflective account bit seems to worry lots of people, but it isn't as bad as you may think.
I will PM you with a link that may be able to offer a starting point for you.
Good to have you join us.

Re: NVQ Level 5 - Unit 402
Hi Alexis,
Like Steve and Jedn, I have recently started my NVQ level 5. It has been a number of years since I have undertaken this type of course and must admit to finding it rather daunting. I have started Unit 402 but find some of the elements rather unclear and confusing. So would appreciate any pointers you may be able to give.
I do get limited support from my training provider but they don't provide a network of other people who are undertaking this course so would be good to link up and just have a forum to get a bit of support.
Cheers
Andy

Hi All,
How are you guys doing with this? I'm just starting this again after a break and like you, am pretty sure that a lot of what I'm writing is absolute garbage. It makes sense, but not sure if I'm interpreting the requirements correctly, or if I'm applying the right structure.
Is there a study group on here that could jump in on?
Thanks

Hi Andy and Demoman.
There is a forum that you may want to have a look at which is not connected to HSfB. http://hsestudygroup.proboards.com/

Re: NVQ Level 5 - Unit 402
Thanks Alexis!
I think I came across tis last night while doing a search, so I'll look in to it.
On another note. I'm a little concerned about unit 611. I'm hearing bad things about it to be honest. This is mandatory now from what I understand to achieve Grad status?
I've enrolled with another training provider because my last one was pants so will no doubt get some information from them, but just wondered if anyone has any experience of completing this unit?
Thanks

Re: NVQ Level 5 - Unit 402
Hi Alexis,
No 611. The training provider has emailed me the following:
Below is an example of the work required to complete unit 611.
Carry out health and safety research in relation to the role in the organisation.
Conduct research into legislation, guidance, standards, practice impacting the organisation
critically evaluate the impact of Legislation, guidance, standards, practice research (PESTLE) and summarise recommendations from the research conducted
Understand professional ethics in practice
Explain why codes of conduct and ethics are relevant to practice in the organisation, evaluate ethical issues in existing working practices in the organisation
Understand current issues of diversity and inclusivity in relation to health and safety
Outline the impact of diversity and inclusivity on the organisation. Explain the benefits and risks of diversity and inclusivity on the organisation and recommend suitable interventions to ensure inclusivity and dignity of individuals in the organisation
Apply the principles of CPD in your role
You will need to create a personal development plan including realistic goals (SMART plan). We suggest a 3 to 5 year plan.
Record outcomes of development activities and ‘critically’ reflect on your CPD.
The unit is assessed through 4 tasks. You will be notified at month 12 that you are eligible to complete the assignment and will have 30 days to do so. Please note you can only have one referral per task, should your resubmission not meet the criteria this will be classed as a fail.
It seems just to be another hoop to jump through. I'm sure similar isn't required if completing a NEBOSH Diploma.
