Integrated Management System - Starting from Scratch

Post by Martin76 »

I’m going to be starting a new position next month and the role will require me to create an integrated management system (IMS) and obtain accreditation under 9001, 14001 & 18001. The company are aware (as am I) that this won’t happen overnight and that it will take some time to develop and implement a system that can then be audited to gain accreditation.

I’ve been involved with ISO accreditation and various other third party accreditation but I’ve never had to create a system from scratch. I’m CMIOSH, I’ve completed a NEBOSH Environmental certificate and completed an IRCA Lead auditors course for 18001. The company I’m joining are supporting me with quality training (any other training that is required) and I’ve just submitted a CQI Practitioner grade application to the CQI.

My question is there any information, training, resources available that I can use to help and assist me with the creation of an integrated management system?

Any help, advice or guidance would be very much appreciated.

Martin

Hi Martin. In the absence of our professional members who have done this in its entirety, I have found from MrG the following link, which may assist until others come in.

Also this from our downloads. https://www.healthandsafetytips.co.uk/D ... 0Sheet.pdf

Thanks for sending those documents. I'll review them in detail later on but that's the sort of thing I was looking for

Hi Martin,

Having pretty much done this recently, there is plenty of resource to assist you.

BSI website:
https://www.bsigroup.com/en-GB/iso-9001 ... -ISO-9001/
https://www.bsigroup.com/en-GB/ohsas-18 ... SAS-18001/

and LRQA website:
http://www.lrqa.co.uk/standards-and-sch ... nload.aspx
http://www.lrqa.co.uk/standards-and-sch ... -guidance/

There is also a great IOSH guide to integrated management systems implementation here:
http://www.iosh.co.uk/joinedup/

Those were just the ones I've used in the past (others are available) and should give you a good starting point

Good luck!

Glen

Just wanted to post a thanks to those that have contributed to this post. In my current role I have inherited systems that are in need of some serious attention. Because of that and the recent launch of 45001 it has given me the opportunity to bite the bullet and look at the prospect of an integrated system for 9001, 14001, 18001.
So when the whole world is safe..............what are we going to do then?
