Smoking in Vehicles - UK Law
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/smoking-in-vehicles" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
'From 1 October 2015 it will be illegal to smoke in a car (or other vehicles) with anyone under 18 present. The law is changing to protect children and young people from the dangers of secondhand smoke.
Both the driver and the smoker could be fined £50. The law applies to every driver, including those aged 17 and those with a provisional driving licence. The law does not apply if the driver is 17 years old and is on their own in the car
The law applies to any private vehicle that is enclosed wholly or partly by a roof. It still applies if people have the windows or sunroof open, have the air conditioning on, or if they sit in the open doorway of the vehicle. The law won’t apply to a convertible car with the roof completely down''

Re: Smoking in Vehicles - UK Law
How on earth can they police this law?
I totally agree with the ban, when we know just how detrimental to Children's health this is, but who is going to police it?
They seem to have enough trouble trying to police hand-held mobile phone use/texting in cars as it is.

It's a complete mess. As Alexis says, they can't stop the idiots using their mobiles, so how are they going to enforce this one?
Another side effect is companies coming up with signs about it http://www.seton.co.uk/no-smoking-vehic ... #PR091A5WC" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Excuse me, but as any business vehicle, i.e. Cab, Bus, Minibus, Coach, Truck etc, etc is already a workplace and therefore non-smoking, just who do they expect to use these signs? Private vehicles? Family cars?
Any thoughts? Am I missing a great loophole in this that the sign manufacturers have become aware of? Confused...

Re: Smoking in Vehicles - UK Law
Everyone will get one of the signs in their xmas stocking Berni!
What bothers me about this new joke is that there will inevitably have to be yet another sub-committee of the committee's sub-committee et al set up to "discuss" who should go where to "research" the why's and wherefores, thus costing the tax payer even more money for "expenses", when people who cannot walk are subjected to ever-depleting necessary help because of the austerity targets being forced upon us.
(This, of course, is only my own personal opinion.)
