Davey, stick this one in the General Discussion Section also as it is a good one for others to see.

In the meantime, have a look at the FAQ Section in the forums. There are bits about FLT's which may help.

drivers should always leave the truck in a state which is safe and discourages unauthorized use. the brake on, motor off and forks down. and the key removed

Try and park it in its own bay. Out of traffic flow. Level ground. keys removed so no unathorsied users can get to operate it. Forks down, handbrake off. Recharging point if it is electrical.

Rules to follow when a fork-lift truck is left unattended during drivers breaks.
Returning the truck to a designated parking area where possible, applying the brake and leaving the controls in a neutral position, ensuring the forks are resting on the floor and the mast tilted slightly forward, avoiding the obstruction of walkways, exits and fire points, and removing the ignition key and returning it to a responsible person.

That's it Graham. Just remember if you get this question (comes up quite a lot in past papers) to watch the wording ie outline, describe list etc.
Outline would be the what and the why etc, so you may need to expand. Just a thought.

would i be right in saying for the example the above question.

within my ans i should put: ensuring the forks are resting on the floor to avoid the risk of other workers, contractors or members of the public tripping over them? etc etc

the what and why!

Yes Graham and depending on how many points awarded, you will be able to see how much you need to expand to receive full marks, but don't fall into the trap of giving them a full history or story as to how to fix it, how to fix the injured party if it happened, how to do the peperwork etc.

I have a terrible tendancy to give a massive whole story that the question wasn't asking, so as many many have said in here over the years, read the quetion twice and maybe even again halfway through your answer in case you are going off in a tangent, causing you to use up valuable time needed to complete the paper.
