IEMA Associate Member

Post by neboshnoob »

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has successfully self studied for the IEMA associate membership exam?

If so, what resources did you use? Did you already have a firm background in the environment?

Alternatively, if there is a better way to up skill myself then I'm all ears. My current role does not include any environmental work so a company paid for course is unlikely.

I'm basically trying to future proof myself as most jobs I see advertised are as SHE Advisors/Managers/Officers etc. Some form of qualification seems like the next logical step to add to my recently completed H&S Diploma.

Hope you guys can help.

Hello,

I haven't as of yet taken the exam but I am going along the self study route for AIEMA. I brought the 'Environmental Management in Organizations: The IEMA Handbook' as this covers most if not all topics for the IEMA exams. Its quite an expensive book but well worth the price.

I have no previous background in Environment but find the book explains each part well and anything I am stuck on or need more support with I source through the internet or forums.

Hope this helps and good luck in your studies.

Hi S&S,

Thank you for your reply.

I've seen that book. It is pricy! I wondered if it still matched the current syllabus for Associate level? I suppose either way it's going to give a good foundation of knowledge.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, have not had access to the forums.

As Tim has said, look for a used copy as this will bring the price down. As far as I am aware the book still matches the current syllabus for Associate level.
