Interesting question.
I suspect that it was necessary to watch the final alignment and possibly manually nudge it a mm or so at the end.
Looking at the lattice construction of the turntable, if it had dropped, the result would be like an old Buster Keaton movie; they stand still and it drops around them

Just because they drink juice made from girders, doesn't make them as strong as the girders they think they can carry on their shoulders!
