Forum Ranks - Suggestions?
Hey Folks,
I have been thinking about changing the ranks for the forums. The ranks give an indication of how many posts you have posted on the forums. If you look at my profile on the left of this post, you will see:

However, if you look at other members' descriptions, then they will be something like member, affiliate, grand shidoshi, newcomer etc. There are other individual ones which can be changed on request.
Anyway, I would like to change the ranking system - currenlty the ranks are as follows:
Newcomer - number of posts = 1
Affiliate - number of posts = 4
Member - number of posts = 15
Senior Member - number of posts = 40
Grand Shidoshi - number of posts = 100
When you post the related number of posts, your rank increases.
I'd like to change all of this, do you have any suggestions as to what the above could be replaced with? I can also set how many posts are required before the rank increases.
Your thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Ashanti, what about the exclusion say of the jokes, the rest would be fine, mind you i'm a fine one to rattle the cage, I keep putting jokes on! nearly as fast as jack edits them, only joshing Jack appreciated you pm the other week,Ashanti wrote:Somebody can reach a 100 in a week or two if they try enough. Then again does quality as well as quantity come in to it? But how do you quantify that?

That could work but does the quantity relate to of number of H&S related posts you make or is it involvement in the forum? Restricting it to certain forums strikes a bit of elitism, unless you could have diferent grades for different forums? That is getting a bit compliacted.Gladiator wrote:what about the exclusion say of the jokes
i recon if you get 5000 posts you can own and run the forum
serious, good idea the forum has grown so quickly and a few changes have and are under way, mainly for ease of use (although others will think diffrently) and this area looks like a good one to do;
Newcomer - number of posts = 1 - up to 5
Affiliate - number of posts = 4 - up to 10
Member - number of posts = 15 - up to 25
Senior Member - number of posts = 40 - up to 100
Grand Shidoshi - number of posts = 100 up to 200
and its not hard to do - have a look at some of our earlier posts

I can add as many ranks as needed, not a problem but I can't pick and choose which posts will count I'm afraid. I like the idea of a really big one though.
How about the actual names, any suggestions on those?
And, if I can find more rank images, rather than the current radiation ones, then maybe they could work too.
Brainstorming

Grand Shidoshi with a gold star for over 250 posts
....With two gold stars for over 500 posts
....With three gold stars over 1000 as a maximium?
Is this feasible, Jack?
