I think we'd struggle to do it in a day Jack, after all I'd quite fancy doing my leg on my bijke and 30 miles the other day took a couple of hours, fair enough you could plan a flat, fast route and get that down to maybe an hour and a half but the length of the Uk in 1 day would be almost impossible I think! Can we start a list of those who want to participate? just a thought about the daily mail sponsorship here
if we want coverage doesnt that massively reduce our ability to get coverage - whereas if we use someone else for sponsorship such as a safety organisation we can get coverage from other papers

Hi everyone,
I've just read these posts - what a fantastic idea ! I would love to take part either running or cycling. I'm in Leicestershire if that's any help....
Also, I work for a charity so obviously we would love to benefit from some of the sponsorship... I can give more details if needed....

I wondered what people's ideas were on which charity we might support? I'm of the opinion that it is better to raise a decent amount for a number of charities rather than a small amount for several? I would suggest that each person who takes part can nominate one charity and then they can all go into a hat and be drawn out for one to support? What are people's thoughts on this?

I would hope with the type of event we are looking at we could get enough to support perhaps 4 charities and look at one each from North, South, east and West of the country.

I am thinking along similar to Paul. Would it not be possible to split evenly amongst the charities each individual chose, but it would depend upon how much was raised I suppose.PaulDonaldson wrote:Keith

Im sure at the moment we do need to keep up the momentum, but as for being in charge I would say it was your idea so maybe you could take it forward. i would willingly take up the mantle of your assistant for this and may even take you out for a pint to discuss it when im in Sheffield next month.
I have a few ideas on what we could do and also how it all might be done and I am sure Jack would be more than happy at the moment for the two of us to take it on and run with it. Im sure he will trust us to do the right thing.

Thank you Paul. I do know Jack is inundated with stuff both at his proper job and here in HSfB, which takes up many hours, however, I too will be happy to help out if anyone wants and I do have another thought, which may work well. Will update when I have more detailed information.

I'm happy with that, and then we can just liaise with Jack from time to time to update him. My big concern with this is that whilst I have plenty of enthusiasm for it I have very little experience in organising such things! If you could be there to (metaphorically) hold my hand Paul that would be good.
