Re: Back pain
Well spent all day Monday in hospital having lots of morphine and scans, I've slipped another disc (so that's 2) and made the first one worse. They are worried as the damage is affecting my bladder so keeping tight eye on things and trying to move my operation forward (as its due mid November)

Re: Back pain
It's time we sorted your NHS Professionals out!! In the meantime, make sure you move a bit, walk a bit and lie down a bit. The painkillers are the important factor for you. They will help the inflammation that is surrounding your discs stopping them going back and resting on your nerves.

Re: Back pain
Hi all
Thought I would give you an update, Im back at work though really slowly moving about. painkillers are keeping things at bay and managing to get a few hours sleep at night. When I get home Im really struggling so having to take extra that seems to get things back on track.
A friend called last night to advise that whilst waiting for operation to try acupuncture to see if that helps, but not sure so was wondering if anyone has tried this?
Anyway back to rattling as I move with so many tablets in system (6 tablets 4 times a day )
Thanks for all the messages

Re: Back pain
Hi, I've never had accupuncture but my mother-in-law had it for her arthritis and she said it did relief the pain. It is worth trying if there is a local clinic.
Take care

Re: Back pain
I had accupuncture as part of a treatment for a stiff neck.
Worked for me
Took the pain away and with some manipulation form the bone cruncher was right as rain in no time

Re: Back pain
Well acupuncture works on the nerves, and the discs will be trapping the nerves as the enter/leave the spine, so it's definitely an option. Not had reason to try it myself.
Hope you get sorted out soon.

Re: Back pain
I haven't tried it either Penners, but have heard people say it helps sometimes.
Here's a little happening......
Long time ago, whilst in the same predicament as yourself, I went privately to be fixed. They gave me the initial Milogram x-ray, which consisted of putting a dye in the spine, seatbelting me onto a moving x-ray bed, sloshing the dye around like you would if mixing something and taking the x-ray. Would you believe it...........the dye sloshing around moved the disc away from all the nerves to a safe place where it was left to float and eventually be destroyed by my own body army.
One in a billion chances of that happening they told me.
Hope they hurry up with your operation.
