Morning all (apologies if i have put this into the wrong category).
Quick question if i may. We are currently having some work carried out and asbestos is currently being removed on site. There are one or two tight areas which run close to existing pipework. The Asbestos removal contractor has a plan to avoid damage but would still like a plan B, in the event a pipe burst. They have requested a contractor is present to repair the damage should that occur. The main concern though is, other than a competent asbestos removal contractor, surely no one else should be present within an area where ACM's are being disturbed/ removed. How could a specialist plumbing contractor be present to repair any damaged pipework?
Is it purely a case of correct PPE and training provided by the Asbestos Removal Contractor?
I've asked the plumbing contractor to check with their insurers if they are even covered to be working within an area such as this (which i very much doubt), but either way, that's not so H&S related, which is my main concern here and the danger posed to operatives.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks all

Re: Asbestos Query
My initial thoughts....
Discover where the main stopcock is and turn the water off.
Or at least be prepared to turn it off if the pipelines are damaged.
Until it happens, you don't know what a plumber might need to do, it's a bit of a 'How long is a length of string' sort of question.
If they've sprayed water everywhere, the incidence of fibres will be low....
I wouldn't be overly concerned with the Removal Contractor providing all the relevant PPE and 100% supervising/escorting the Plumber in to do the repair, following all their company control procedures, including decontamination afterwards.

Re: Asbestos Query
Thanks Bernicarey, that's a really useful response and very much along the line of thought i had. Really useful forum to be able to get a second opinion on things to settle any nerves or on the off chance, something has been missed!
Many thanks
