Retro gaming

Post by Time Pilot »

Anybody here like playing old video games?

I've been playing video games since the early 80s, just love the old ones!

Consoles, arcade cabs, PC, doesn't matter.

The trouble I found with playing retro games is they never seem as good when playing them for the first time in 20 years.
They are clunky and basic, in some cases but I guess we love because they were the 'thing' when we were growing up.

I guess we are spoilt now with graphics, gameplay, etc and the retro games really show their age.

My first console was a SEGA master system, haven't see it for ages but loved the simplicity of some of the games. These days, I quite like to play Tetris or Pong to bring back those memories but usually do so on a website rather than dusting off the old SEGA.

Still got the PS one but really the Wii is about as "retro" as it gets when it comes to consoles these days lol

Problem with playing the older TV Console Games these days is that they were on the old analogue TV system.
So while there is no longer any conflict of signal, which happened a lot when Channel 5 came on air, there are a reducing number of older analogue capable sets out there as people buy new TVs.

Yes!

Nemesis
Salamander
Ghosts and Goblins
1942
Street Fighter 2
Bubble Bobble...

etc etc etc

Say what you want about the graphics but when you revisit these games.... THEY ARE HARD!!! especially ghosts and goblins, its slowly killing me, I remember as a kid I knew where every attack was coming from, I knew all the little tricks, now I just cannot complete it at all ha ha but I shall not give up.

Great thread

Wonderboy 3: The Dragon's Trap has been remastered and released on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. I got it for my little brother in law for his PS4 and he loved it.

Still absolutely as good as I remember it.

I still occasionally play some of the old classics, particularly the SNES RPGs, such as FF6, Terranigma, Soul Blazer, Lufia 2 etc.

And after thinking about this, I now want to go play Alex Kidd in Shinobi World... Unfortunately toddlers don't leave you with much time for these things.
