Two update headaches

Post by Alexis »

1 Yesterday I had an update for iOS, which I duly installed, resulting in nothing but problem after problem. With the help of someone in Twitter and almost 24 hours later, my phone is finally working.

2 I installed the free Windows 10 upgrade today and have had nothing but problems since, so I have now uninstalled it and gone back to my ever faithful 7 version.

Why do these big named techy organisations always seem to have "snagging" issues with anything new to update?? And they talk about building "snags".

Most of my day has been taken up with technology correcting and adjusting. I am not averse to technology, but they really should consult me in future before infiltrating my life!! :protest:

Oh dear Alexis, what a nightmare. I have been getting messages about how I can update to Windows 10 for free, but having read about your experience I think I will bodyswerve this for the time being.

Fortunately, don't have anything to do with fruit, so no iOS problems here!

On windows, I've never upgraded until at least the release of the first major update (Service Pack).

From what I've heard of W10, there's a major re-release in October which should address many issues.
It says "Press any key," where's the "any" key?

I've got a new machine which I brought with Win 8 and deliberately didn't do anything with it until I upgraded to Win10, so I could install onto a virgin machine. Seems to be working OK.
The only glitch so far was one day last week when the tabs from the Firefox browser appeared along the top of the Thunderbird Mail, over the top of the Mail and Calendar tabs. Did a restart and it's been OK since. Fingers crossed.

Hope yours settles down Alexis. .salut

Thank you Zman and Berni for your thoughts. The phone seems fine now and I will not be installing the Windows 10 until the new one in October as mentioned by Zman. ./thumbsup..

I installed Windows 10 when it came out. My pc goes back to 2011 and it just didn't like Windows 10. I had no end of trouble, pc freezing, software not working, crashes, slow, crying, grrrrrrr's. Luckily they have a handy roll back option as long as you do it within 30 days. It's funny how they thought of a nice easy way to put it back to normal.

I won't be upgrading anytime soon.
