Word saved corrupted

Post by Penfold »

Hi all

Working on this years RoSPA award application for last 4 days, saving the document every few minutes. Working this afternoon saved it and looked up to see most of the tables had been corrupted where lketters had turned into boxes and weird symbols. Argh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

IT looked at it and said nothing can be done cannot be saved and as put on memory stick they cant gop back to yesterdays saved system

Anyone got any ideas how to save all the work without having to start again????

Penners, hopefully someone in here will know the answer to your problem, but until then, maybe this link will give you a bit of help.

Good links from Alexis me thinks, although none of us have tried that software.

I had a corrupt Excel document just before Xmas and I fixed it by opening the temp file saved in the folder. You will need to go into your folder settings to enable 'view hidden files'. I think I opened Excel first, then pointed to the temp file. It worked for me.

Other than that, here are a couple of other things to try - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893672" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826864" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I feel for you, RoSPA submission is actually the work of the devil! Doing ours next week, just in time for the deadline.

You might be able to reconstruct it using one of the free Open software programs like Open Office or LibreOffice

Sometimes these programs can sort out things that Word won't - but ensure you Save it as type ".doc" Word97/2003 or whatever format...

Alternatively - check out the Formatting in the area where it all went peculiar - perhaps Font setting got changed to Symbol or one of the other odd fonts - try highlighting bits of the odd formatting & see what the toolbar settings show up

Hope this helps a little bit (unless you've got it all sorted by now, hope so) .salut
