More for those of us in the food industry and catering, but useful as a tool box talk?

another on the same vein

Food allergies are a rapidly increasing issue, looking back it is now amusing but at the time it was not, we had one soldier who developed an intolerance to Pine Trees...developed I guess from too many exercises is cold wooded places. He didn't realise Pesto had Pine nuts in it and had a reaction that required hospitalisation.

Why, in retrospect was it amusing?? He is/ was one of my CHEFS!

And for many that sense of humour is lost on them. I think you have to be either Forces or Emergency Services to develop it. I found it funny!

Thank you for these Ady. ./thumbsup..

The pine nuts you mention are lethal to Coeliacs as I found out to my cost some time ago.

When I was diagnosed, the Dietitian never once mentioned to avoid pine nuts. Even doctors don't seem to be aware of the pine tree and pine nut associated problems.

Wee shame for your chef though! :)
