NEBOSH (only a bit of paper)

Hello,

I have passed my NEBOSH gen cert about 4 years ago. The outlay in money to pay for the course and what it has done for me has well...fallen short so drastically of what it is promised in terms of increased job prospects and so on...To be honest it has done nothing at all. Continually ploughed in hours of professional development combined with an extensive work experience, final year student of BSc environmental management and yet a response is not even honoured in any application.

My advice to those hoping to get a NEBOSH cert and runaway in to the sunset with a future full of an abundance of job prospects...well think again. The money and outlay for an individual to do this course does not weigh up with what it should do for a person. I guess NEBOSH certs are getting very common now. Years ago having the cert would of certainty made one stand out but now its just comparable to any other cert. NEBOSH Diploma I guess will make people stand up straight and if that doesn't....well who knows

Sounds like you have been rather unfortunate as there has been loads of people getting entry roles with Gen Cert.

You say you havent had any responses in any applications, I too (with the Diploma) have had this too, unfortunately this is the way (not right in my opinion) of recruitment these days.

One other thing I realised was although my CV listed my qualifications it didnt say enough about me or sell me enough for the roles I was applying for and I kept sending generic CV's instead of making it pertinent for the role I was applying for, there is some guidelines on the site regarding CV layout etc

Keep plugging away and the right role will come your way.
