Hi,
Recently moved back to the UK from New Zealand and am at a stage in life where I am re-assessing what I want to do. My wife and I have recently had our first baby and I want to begin a career in Health & Safety.
I have 10+ years experience in the civil construction industry and a recent lightbulb moment has me pursuing a new career path. Previous roles have had me involved as H&S committee member, delivering annual re-induction content to group of 40+ people, as well being part of a really good safety culture at my most recent employer in NZ (major construction company with 5000+ employees). This included daily risk assessments, audits of work colleagues for safe behavioral practices and promoting well being initiatives. Plenty more without me realising that it's something that I'm actually quite passionate about.
A short stint labouring on a local building site last week was the decisive moment in progressing in HSE. It's 2019 and there are still so many bad attitudes and bad practices happening daily. Hopefully in years to come I can be a part of making a positive change somewhere.
I'm hoping to start with NCRQ in the coming weeks and will no doubt have some questions going forward. This forum seems like a great place for resources and input, as well as relevant topics and news.
Nice to make your aquaintance

Hi AnTlur
Welcome to the forums
Yes even though the UK is supposed to have one of the better HSE cultures there is still a lot that can be done in terms of changing perception/behaviour.
Good luck with your studies

It is better to be careful 100 times than to get killed once.
