Greetings
Hows it going MARRA
12 year Gap from the building materials industry (Concrete Batcher) for 14 years
From 2006 I have been driving Artics around the country and are thinking of returning to the above
From 2004 to 2006 we were doing our own risk assessments using a task identification register and tasks were categorised as trivial or low risk and high risk plus prohibited and we wrote on the back a method statement on how things should be done I think so but its been a while.
High risks were converted into low risk and trivial was trivial like using a squirty cleaner for the toilet (COSHH )
The Operations director thought they were quite good but he was nebosh
Has much changed ?
Is it worth doing the NEBOSH general cert as beefing up the CV ?

Hi energize
Welcome to the forums
NEBOSH is a good qualification, I have seen it used to beef up a CV but to be honest, IOSH Managing Safely can show commitment to Health & Safety. Although not written in stone, NEBOSH is more for people wisihing to take up H&S as a career.
As for any training course it is horses for courses and what you want out of it.

Re: 12 year Gap from the building materials industry
Hi Energize and another warm welcome from me also.
I would agree with Willpool in perhaps looking at the IOSH Managing Safely or other courses specifically for the industry you are looking to go back to.
NEBOSH courses, as again mentioned by Willpool, would be a real commitment for you and unless wanting to make a career out of H&S, plus adding the Diploma at a later stage to ensure a good job within H&S specifically, then maybe other smaller courses would suit a CV add-on better and save yourself a lot of money.
Good to have you aboard.

Re: 12 year Gap from the building materials industry
sorry for the late reply
I do not want to return to batcher
I would at nearly 50 years old think I can change my career and use driving to fall back on
If method statements and high risks converted into low risks are still the way things can be done am I some of the way forward than some people ??
