Our general manager has just bought a new desktop laminator from rexel (LP35HS) and merrily told everyone to start using it. This has caused a bit of a stink (yes pun is intended - sorry).
Has anyone any info on what type of fumes are generated and the necessary controls. I have published a simple safe system of work but need some technical info. If anyone can help I would very much appreciate their views, suggestions. Kind Regards, Bernard

I use a similar make, and questionned the smell when I got it because I really did wonder if it was a symptom of overheating.
The laminate films are wax coated - the heat melts the wax that binds to the paper surface and creates a seal. It is that wax, escaping around the edge of the sheet, that causes some, perhpas most of the smell.
A bit like the smell of burning wax from a candle - and when your sheet gets stuck half way through the laminator, not too dissimilar from the candle flame either!
