Waste Batteries

Post by ChesRSmith »

Good morning All,

Hoping someone can help me. We have a container of waste batteries (small ones AA, AAA etc). How long can I store these safely on site before I have to worries about them degrading.

No idea about storage times, If you have a container (hopefully a small one) take it to a local supermarket for disposal. Don't let it build up and build up.

It all depends how they are being stored and how quickly they are going to degrade.

Make sure you are separating the different types i.e. alkaline, Ni-Cad, Lithium as they should not be stored together.

The time limit for controlled waste is normally 12-months.
After 12-months your workplace activities will include waste storage, and registration of the company as a waste management site will be required.
