Working at height - HArness - how long can you use a new one for I have conflicting advise

Post by TWDB »

Hi,

we use Harnesses intermittently but have a good inspection programme,

but I'm unclear on how long a harness can be kept in service

I have read 5 years somewhere , and the 10 years if use is intermittent subject to regular inspection

Is there a clear duration stated before needing to be taken out of service?

Thanks T
Update: taken a new job :D hopefully confidence and positivity will return with new challenge - scary though leaving current place after 16 years (6 years H&S !)

Good Morning T.

In a nutshell....No there isn't a clear duration before a harness is taken out of service. All depends upon many factors as can be seen in this old, but still relevant, post from one of our members in the IOSH forums.
