Using Topset allows not trained people on the investigation team the ability to fully take part in the investigation without prior experience. If you are leading the investigation it will be unusual if everyone in the team was trained in incident investigation. It is a logical and step by step process to get to the root cause.

I did the Nebosh Intro to accident investigation, I did for some CPD and also because i was interested but in all fairness it was basic and more for people who aren't dedicated HSE professionals

"The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and NEBOSH have jointly developed a new one day qualification that shows how non-complex incidents can be investigated effectively.

The one day NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation covers the following topics:
Moral, legal and financial arguments for investigations
Human and organisational factors that can contribute to an incident
        The process for investigating incidents
Positive interview strategies and the barriers to successful interviews

The cost of this course is £525 per person (includes course notes, NEBOSH examination fee and certificate)."

Seems a bit expensive to me!

I do wonder why this would be an attractive course to employers if they already have a good H&S Team who already have their NEBOSH qualifications anyway! .scratch

Perhaps it may be applicable to organisations with huge amounts of staff and dare I say it, a lot of accidents? :dontknow:

Wow that's is expensive for a one day online training session. As I was reading the contents and the fact that it is online I thought it was going to say free to join :) I was thinking about sharing with my colleagues but with that price, I'm happy to deliver the course myself :)
