An interesting little piece.
Most people wouldn't consider that aircraft usually don't have 'keys', other than to lock the door, so once it's open, anyone can take it.
Military Fast Jet types usually don't have any keys to secure them.

It brought to mind a tale of a small error .....
Many decades ago, I was on a detachment of about 12-14 Harriers and working the night shift. An urgent technical instruction came in that was to be carried out before next flight, a safety inspection of a switch what would take about 2-3 minutes per aircraft (as I recall, it was the bomb release safety flap that might actually foul the switch it was covering. :shock: The inspection was just to look for any sign of rubbing on the red paint on the switch).
The aircraft were all out in a single line up on the flight line and 2 of my colleagues went out to do the inspections, one starting each end, meet in the middle, them come in and sort all the paperwork out.
When they were doing the paperwork they both went to sign for doing tail letter F (or maybe it was P) and that was the problem, one of them had written down the wrong tail letter in the dark.
While they sorted all the rest of the paperwork out, I think it was me that went out to check which was which! :lol:
