I've taken on a new client last week, who until now has relied on H&S support from a professional association for their line of business.
The association website has a members area where relevant documents can be obtained as part of their membership. As the client is expanding into new aspects of their line of work, and I just happened to get talking to them at a local business event, they decided to see what they might need to improve.
The H&S Policy they have been using so far, provided by this 'association' is, in my opinion, of very little value... approaching worthless.
It reads like it was drawn up by a Contract Lawyer.
I've attached a sanitised half page of the 2 page 'H&S Policy'; how many times can you use 'the organisation' in 1 sentence?
There is no personalisation of this policy other than insert your details at the top of the page.

Re: Garbage H&S Policy....??
I can't count how many times I've seen situations like this on my travels. It's so frustrating and quite frankly makes me angry to see these 'associations' giving out generic H&S policies and taking the £££. I don't necessarily blame the client as they are paying for a service and nine times out of ten they are under the assumption that because the association has given it to them and they have paid for it then MUST be compliant for their business. Unfortunately this isn't the case and leaves the business exposed.
H&S policies are unique to the individual business they are formed in, of course there will always be similarities but coming across generic basic policies makes me cringe! Especially when you read further on and find stuff that isn't even revenant to the company.

Do you mean this one? At least that's no so bad for a small office and is in plain English. Or are you thinking of another HSE example?PaulDonaldson wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:14 am Very like the one on the HSE website but at least its free!
I like this one from the Construction sub-site of the HSE website. Plenty of use of 'WE will...' and 'Senior Management will...'
