Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you can recommend a Responsible Person Legionella course in Scotland. I have seen a few through searching with a lot of variety of course content including a 2-3 hr online one (all the classroom ones are 2 day so that left me wondering the validity of it.)

thanks in advance,

Scott

Not sure how much use this will be, but:

I took a three day course but had to travel down from Glasgow to Derby to take part. It was an IOSH-accredited course by ISAC I think, but don't have my documentation here to check..

In retrospect, although the course was good, having not come from a plumbing background I think I would have been better off taking the City & Guilds' course which I understand contained a lot more practical information on how to identify all the equipment in the first place. Bonus being that that course was based in Falkirk.

This was all about two years ago though, so I can't be certain that they are still available.

I have the benefit of having had legionella risk assessments from a 3rd party available, this is just to "train" our responsible people on their duties as far as legionella is concerned. I was going to take a course first to being me up to speed and then recommend the course to our senior managers etc.

cheers witsd, I will keep looking

I've recently been looking at this as well. There are a whole range of 'awareness' cources ranging in price from £20 online to a couple hundred quid in a classroom. These sort of things should be fine for a designated person on the assumption you are using a 3rd party for risk assessments and system inspections.

If not, and you want someone doing those things then you are looking at a p901, p903 and p904 qualifictaion (p902 if i recall correctly is for domestic systems) which take longer and cost more.

Let me check, one of my clients did an inhouse course for their staff who deal with the legionella issues. Ill see if I can get hold of it.
