Something that comes up periodically around here, the application of LOLER/PUWER to workplace storage equipment .
I'm well versed in the rotating stock shelf systems, but what about a system whereby the parts are held in trays that appear at a hatch.
Once you have your 'parts' the tray withdraws back into the machine and travels along and up to it's parked position.
It then selects the next tray from a location within it's internals and beings that to you for you to pick some parts out.
Then that one is taken away into the depths of the machine.
Etc, etc....
So it's a bit like this system, but whereas this image shows 4 vertical systems side-by-side, the one I've recently seen has both vertical and horizontal movement of the 'Shelves'.
Has anyone got such a combination vertical/horizontal system?
LOLER and/or PUWER

Hi Bernie
Page 118-124 of HSG76: Warehousing and Storage, provides a lot good information regarding safety within an automated warehouse.

Re: LOLER and/or PUWER
Thanks QS
I've already looked at that and its really focused on a whole automated warehouse. This is just a more complex version of what my OP showed. Imagine that the storage machine is 4 bays as per that drawing, but everything comes to one hatch, not 4 separate ones.
It's a machine I've seen at a prospective clients, while briefly being shown around their premises. I'm just waiting to see if they actually accept my support proposal. At the moment I haven't even seen where an engineer might get into it for maintenance.
