Hi All
Anyone know much about face fitting. I was looking at a course on face fitting but i see now that there is RPE available that will let you do a FFT just by basically pressing a couple of buttons.
I want to be compliant and would happily invest in the right RPE with these new filters but i want to know if i purchased these and provided guidance to staff ie this is how to check, reasons why etc would i be compliant?

Re: Face Fitting
In a nutshell, NO.
The press to check face masks are excellent and give better protection than the paper ones, but they're only 97% certain to protect the individual, hence the need to face fit test. I've done the course and it's worthwhile doing.

Re: Face Fitting
Morning all,
Here's a blog I put together on fit testing that might be of use...
https://nuktraining.co.uk/articles/a34- ... ks-rpe-and
I would also point you at a document OC282/28 which if full of good advice.
Also, the BSIF (ppl who run the fit 2 fit scheme) recently contacted the HSE regarding the use of "press to test" masks, the HSEs response was to the effect that the only way to test the effective seal of a mask is by undertaking a face fit test.
Happy to answer any specific questions that anyone may have.
