Here's a link to the Selby Course. https://selby.ac.uk/employer-skills/cou ... awareness/

Worth mentioning that if anyone in the East Midlands region is looking for a course at their place of work, I can provide OfQual regulated Level 1, 2 and 3 courses in "First Aid for Mental Health". Drop me a PM if you would like more info.
Grimsby College Distance Learning Unit also do that course for free. I did it last year when looking to promote a Mental Health Awareness week at work.

I don't think that figure even covers just how many people, in every country, actually have such issues Arditi.

The trouble is, we cannot see this illness and if we are truthful, how many of us actually understand fully when someone with mental health issues is at a low point inside, when outwardly they seem to be alright and coping. Not me for one, albeit I "think" I understand. :(

Initial reaction might be to think that the USA is top of the list, given their obsession with going to Therapy (if they can afford it)... but if you look at the global statistics they are nowhere near the top, they're actually 34th...

I don't want to be ungrateful, but the Govt's £5m grant to mental health charities announced yesterday isn't going to stretch very far. Even if restricted to England alone, it wouldn't pay for an extra GP per county.

Lets hope its an interim payment as there will be a tsunami of mental health issues arising from this crisis. Indeed, it has already started. Mrs Messy is a psychotherapist who works for a charity. She is now working from home by phone & secure video is offering extra hours but she & her charity, cannot keep up with demand.

Of course the Govt must prioritise CV-19 care and prevention, but I would argue the £5m grant doesn't go anywhere near replacing cuts made to MH charities in recent years :(

Thanks WB for this.

I am intrigued by the opening sentence that States 'Data shows over 4 in 5 adults are worried about the effect that coronavirus (COVID-19) is having on their life right now'

That must mean 1 in 5 adults are in complete denial - as how can you not be worried?????

Hi Messy,

I guess I fall into the 1 in 5 adults not worried.
I look at it differently. My kids are off school/college, the good lady working from home. I am the only person regularly leaving the house to work 3 days a week in pharma company (2 days work at home) where they have all sorts of precautions.
I am someone who is relaxed, laid back if you like and rarely worries about anything out of my control. Most of whats going on right now is out of my control, and I am calm with the stuff that is within my control.

I understand how many people will be extremely worried with whats going on in the world. Some will have lost jobs, income, family members and I do feel for them at these times.
Everything has different context for each person given their circumstances and mindset. Everyone copes differently.

No criticism of anyone, just a different view point. ./thumbsup..

Stay safe all!
