Re: An Inspector Calls

Hi Lizzie, The one tip that i've picked up on through a steep learning curve (vertical line) is to ensure that the doors are closing and there are no door wedges. Its amazing how many doors you will find with a loose hinge or gaps between the frame and door when you walk slowly and check each one. I...

Re: Management Reviews - Iso 9001

we used to include quality and training as part of the agenda at routine times through the year as part of the general mgt business meetings. One auditor tried (unsuccessfully) to challenge this, our arguement being that it showed quality was part of good business and should not be seen as a seperat...

Re: Fire Drills in sheltered / supported living - the outcome!

After 4 hours of smiles, waffle and making sure the ink on the revised systems was dry we were told that we had satisfied him that we were in enough control to lift the enforcement notice. I've now got a raft of work to catch up on with that particular project, so much for the other 150 that i've go...

Re: Help! Nebosh gen.cert info

Hi Marc, I did mine as block release 1 week at a time with recovery time off in the middle. The training provider also do it as day release. The pass rates on the tutored groups were higher than those who had to self study, block release being slightly higher than day release. If you manage to squee...

Re: Fire Drills in sheltered / supported living

Hi Rob, I'm in a HA too. The majority of the fire visists we've had are OK with a stay put policy, however i've got one that is stating (correctly) that it is our responsibility to get the customers out and that staffig issues are out problem and not his. We have a sleeping member of staff on call a...

Fire Drills in sheltered / supported living

HI guys, I am struggling to get people to actually carry out a practice drill at all - the buildings are manned 24/7. How many drills should they be doing a year? and do customers have to participate - many are in the early stages of dementia or having learning difficulties - I am being told by the ...

Re: Food Safety

Hiya, Rule of thumb being that if you are preparing it (as oppose to heating up a ready meal in a microwave) then the Food Hyg regs apply. If you go on the food standards agency website and have a look at the safer foods better business, it will give you a simple format to use for any premises that ...

Calling all Housing Association Colleagues.

Hi All, I transferred onto Housing 6 months ago today and am still struggling to get clear answers to questions about where our duties start and stop regarding customers (we go from building the house, maintaining the house, general rentals to supporting frail and elderly). I've spotted quiet a few ...

Ashes to Ashes

:( Have I finally flipped into nerdville. Happily watching ashes to ashes last night - even commented on how authentic the glue pot was with its rubber end. Then I spot a photolumenscent (apologies for spelling) fire sign and all the rest of the fire signs look like they are the new type - running m...

Introducing me!

Hi All,

Just drifted in here whilst surfing for homework answers (halfway through NEBOSH Dip Unit C .scratch ) Had a look around and think I should have been visiting for the past few years.

Always willing to share knowledge and take on board new ideas.
