GC3 - general questions - opinions needed!
HI all, Just did my inspection for the GC3. At the same time there was a lighting contractor in who was checking the emergency lighting and, following a chat, I found out that 26/90 of the emergency lights failed the inspection and require to be replaced. Is that useable or should it solely be what ...

Re: DSE question
HI all, Thanks for the replies. Keith - in terms of the safety part I meant in terms of longer term issues relating to posture and the higher risk of developing WRULDs. I can, from my current location, observe at least 4 folk hunched over laptops with no support for their wrists whilst typing. Grant...

Re: Monday 23 Nov
Happy Monday!! Another day of sitting on my behind and twiddling my thumbs for me today as my bosses can't find me anything productive to do while my knee is knackered. :banghead: Presuming my physio's diagnosis is correct, I've only got till June at the latest until I get surgery.... :crybaby: :cry...

NGC3 Workplace choice
Hi all, I'm mulling over my options in regards to where to do my practical. I work in a Council local office that houses housing officers (no pun intended), roads workers, admin, managers, community safety officers, rent arrears teams etc. We also have some NHS staff in the office also - some physio...

Re: stress risk assessment
From your information there is, for that employee, an issue. You'd need to then investigate why it is an issue for him but not for others - there may be a structural issue that just hasn't affected the others or it is an individual issue. Probability would suggest it is probably the latter.... The i...

Re: Recycled materials
If the plastics are a byproduct of the original companies process, and they would be chucking it out if you weren't collecting it, then it is waste IMO. The fact that it is a raw material for your process is irrelevant. The comparison is a paper mill taking recyclable paper - it is collected as wast...

Re: Law interpretation confusion…
I'm guessing that this might be why it's not in the Act.

perception definition
Hi all, I'm homeworking and struggling to pin down the meaning of perception as a 2 mark explain question. Here's what I have so far: Perception is the mechanism that dictates our response to stimuli. We experience the stimulus in the first instance, our brain then processes and interprets that stim...

I've been having a look at the IOSH and IIRSM sites.
Is there a massive difference between the two?
Or is it worth joining one over the other, or both?
It would be good to know your experiences!

Hi ALexis,
No problem.... I was involved in negotiating this policy and I know we pushed the employer pretty hard in terms of assessing and managing stress so think we've come out with an ok policy! (at least I like to think so anyway!)
