Re: Asbestos - Duty for domestic properties

I should have added... remember the civil duty of care to take reasonable care to prevent harm to your neighbor (your neighbor being anyone who could reasonably forseeably be harmed by your acts or omissions), and the responsibilities imposed by the occupier's liability act. You don't have to breach...

Re: Asbestos - Duty for domestic properties

There's no specific duties for the domestic parts of a premises, section 4 only deals with non domestic parts. However Section 2(2) 3 requires a safe environment to work in so if an employer suspects asbestos may be present, he should take action to protect his employees, and under section 3 to prot...

Re: health and safety tender

Ask for a list of recent previous clients, and call them. Ask for a copy of their certifications Can they customise the course to meet specific workplace requirements (where do people get injured most by MH ... make sure it's in the course) Consider having in house trainers trained, last time I did ...

When he does return to work his wrist will need to be allowed to build up strength, so maybe half days for a week or two, or frequent breaks from manual work. As Acko says get the insurance co involved, our's pa...

Re: Linux User

Hi Ian, I would recommend using Ubuntu 9.04 (there are a couple of annoying bugs still needing fixed in 9.10). I don't know the orange livebox (I'm on a cable router so never had the pleasures of ADSL routers) but if it connects to your computers with cat5 cable or wireless there shouldn't be any pr...

Re: Emptying fuel tanks

Candy, Are the residents being told they have to do this or is the lawn mowing done by the housing association ? Are we talking sit on lawnmowers or a petrol flymo? I think this might be more to do with environmental protection than health & safety, although since every time you open a container...

Re: Anyone Done the Diploma just using books?

Hi Swalter, Just using books is almost exactly what the distance learning method is, and you get three years from starting the diploma to qualify, so you could do a module per year if you like. You can get e learning cheaper than distance learning and my experience of elearning is that you have to p...

Re: prosecutions against individuals

That was a nice insight Jack... I also found a way to search for people that have been imprisoned ... mostly unlicensed people working with gas appliances, but also a few company directors for breaching improvement and prohibition notices.

I'm also studying with RRC, just sat Unit A and like you I was a bit confused by this, so I asked a tutor (There's a tutor on the end of the phone at RRC, or via email when you;re studying distance learning or elearning... check out your welcome pack and the "E zone start here section") Th...
