A question has been asked by a senior manager why we do pre-use checks on forklifts and powered pallet trucks, but not on MEWPS. My first thought is legal compliance and have checked PUWER reg 6 Inspection but that is only relevant to installation of new machinery. I have searched Google all morning...

Best advice I can give is check with your insurers - they will want the wooden pallets stored away from a building as they are a fire fuel source. I have had a worker go sick this week - he had a mild stroke in the workplace and has been signed off for 4 weeks - is this RIDDOR reportable under the over 7 day incapacitation?
