London's view mirrors that of the Govt and HSE and is that the Responsible Person (RP) in a small/medium sized building should be able to conduct their own FRA using the DCLG guides. They also point out that the RP MUST appoint people to help with preventitive and protective measures. The point not ...

Lothian might be the first Brigade in Scotland for such a initiative, but a number of English Brigades have been providing such enhanced medical training for some time. Manchester have trained key firefighters in certain more complex trauma procedures. As a result, these firefighters (FF) can take c...

I reckon there's money to be made here. With the death of the prescriptive standards (FP Act etc) and a totally risk assessed approach to FS, fire engineered solutions allow the previously impossible to happen. Obviously new builds is one market ( but in the main, probably already snapped up by the ...

Dave - With the exception of Essex Fire and Rescue (who have formed a 'separate' and rather iffy trading wing) Fire Authorities- as far as I am aware- do not undertake risk assessments let alone charge for them. It's impossible/unethical for an enforcing authority to issue and then 'Police' such ass...

I have just visited their website to see if there's an email address. Sadly not. Neither are they showing any performance current or future.

I also small a rat. Want an easy way to close a theatre? Blame the H&S bogeyman

I agree that it appears to be open season on the H&S industry in the tabloid media. That is until something like the fatal Greek CO tragedy involving the holidaying children, at which time the tabloids campaign for extra 'red tape'. The Sun is reliable for two things only - getting your garden b...

If the cabins are exclusively within the boundary of the site (which it sounds like they are), I would argue the Construction Regs would apply. If not it's the FS(RR)O.

The local fire safety office would not need to be informed.

I too am interested in the views of others on this one

Messy, the emergency escape route will only need to consider disabled people if there are disabled employees or if the place is open to the public.

I won't argue with that, which is why I said: "You may need to consider........DDA"

The licensing authorities are generally pretty hot (xcuse the pun) about naked flames on stage. It's fair enough really as all naked flame fires have the potential to spread very very rapidly indeed, and are accountable for many fire deaths and injuries every year If it is a licenced venue, they may...

If you are considering using the double door as a fire exit, you also may need to consider: Does it lead to a place of safety away from the building (not a locked courtyard etc) and if possible, not thru high risk area Exit Signage (both sides of the door if it's likely to be obstructed) Door fixing...
